Back together during Covid-19

Ensuring that we are all happy back in school after lockdown as we ‘Walk in The Light with Jesus.’ Respecting each other and caring for all in our community. We will work with our Children’s Chaplain & Rev. Malcolm to bring some joy to our community during this pandemic through a variety of ways.

Costs: £5,000

The Lighthouse Centre will work alongside our parents to support them. Our Lantern Cafe will be open daily for our community to use and profits will be used to provide food for children during the school holidays. We will actively participate in our Junior Leadership Team and contribute to the St. Bart’s Pupil Parliament so that the children in our school can make changes that they feel will benefit everyone.

Our Worship Team will lead the whole school worship with the support of our Chaplain. We will support our church community, St. John’s in the Christian calendar. Our Worship Team will also have the opportunity to lead worship at St. John’s for the congregation on three occasions. 

Health & Fitness

Helping us to be fit


Sports coaches will coach our teachers in the delivery of the P.E. Curriculum to help develop their skills and improve the teaching of sports. Sports coaches will continue to work with us at lunchtimes and engage us in activities to help us to enjoy our recreation times and stay fit.

Reading

Reading at Kingsland

Children take home books from the engaging and exciting texts on offer in the school Library. Reader Leaders help children at lunchtimes. We offer incentives such as Book Bingo, Extreme Reading and World Book Week. Bug Club is being used for KS2 guided reading, children will access this on their iPads to increase engagement and access for all.

Writing

Pathways to write

We have introduced a new programme to help us improve our writing skills. All classes are working hard to develop their vocabulary, reading and writing skills. Our writing is based around high quality texts to ensure engaging and purposeful English lessons.

1:1 iPads at Kingsland C.E. Academy

An Apple a day

We use technology to enrich school life, learning in new and innovative ways. Every child in KS1 & KS2 now have their own iPad. We’re the first school to work with Pearson Publishing to adapt schemes such as Power Maths and Bug Club for the iPad. As the Stoke-on-Trent Apple Regional Training Centre, we offer free iPad training.

In the event of our school having to close due to Covid-19 we will still be able to access all of our lessons and speak to our teachers each day.

Helping Teachers

Make learning and teaching even better than ever. Show our teachers what outstanding teaching looks like. Make work more challenging for us. Ensuring that teachers have high expectations of us all.

The teaching team will have high quality training in supporting our learning to assist our development.

How do we check if the plan is working?

Mrs. Goddard will write a report to our Governors every term to tell them what we are doing. Our Junior Leadership Team will ask the children what difference our plan is making to their learning and they will create a report for the Parents & Governors to view.

Attendance

Improving Attendance

We will be supported and encouraged to improve our attendance and our parents will be supported to bring us to school each day, on time. We want to improve our attendance to be above 97%.
