Early Years Foundation Stage

Every Step Counts

In EYFS we place the child at the heart of all we do ensuring we provide a safe, caring and happy environment for them to learn and grow as we encourage their creative minds.

Making A Difference

Let's Work Together

We value our parents and carers as partners in learning and we strive to deliver high quality early education in our stimulating and inclusive learning environment.

What we offer

We offer full time places for children aged 3 and 4.

We ensure that all children are provided with a warm, nurturing and stimulating environment. This enables the children to engage in high quality learning experiences on a daily basis.

We understand that every child is ‘unique and individual’ and develop at different rates and at varied stages. Therefore our dedicated, caring and experienced Early Years team are committed to providing a positive environment where children and their families feel safe and valued.

We strive to provide children with a vibrant, engaging and challenging learning environment which helps them to develop their full potential.

Our outdoor and indoor areas provide nursery children with exciting opportunities to improve their gross and fine motor skills, and develop language and critical thinking.  We also support our nursery children to develop into independent and successful learners.

Nursery Curriculum

We use EYFS as a framework for enriching and broadening children’s experiences.

Our curriculum is based on the Early Years Foundation Stage offering a balance of exciting play opportunities and adult-guided activities that are planned in response to the needs of our children, families and community. Through this curriculum our children develop the knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviours that equip them well for the next stage of their learning in school.

Community involvement is an essential part of our curriculum as we celebrate local traditions, learning new skills to enable the children to take an active role in events throughout the year.

Children leave the Nursery with a sense of belonging to a tightly knit community, ready to start Reception class the following academic year. They have the confidence and skills to make decisions, self-evaluate, make connections and become lifelong learners.

Hello

Each child is unique and we respect individuality and encourage independence whilst making learning fun and memorable through play.

Kingsland C.E. Academy Reception

Reception is a very exciting year for parents and families, as it is a beginning of a new learning journey for their children.

We support children to develop into confident and competent learners, in order to be successful in their school life and beyond.

Our children are self-motivated individuals whose achievements are celebrated on a daily basis within our reception. Children are rewarded for demonstrating attributes such as confidence, perseverance, kindness, helpfulness and good behaviour for learning.

Through play children can develop language skills, their emotions and creativity, social and intellectual skills. We ensure that there is a balance between child led and adult-led activities. The children are able to select, use and play with a wide variety of resources during our continuous provision.

Reception Curriculum

In Reception, we recognise children’s interests and prior learning before planning learning opportunities.

We endeavour to provide first-hand experiences which make our curriculum purposeful and relevant. The ability to learn is underpinned by the teaching of basic skills, knowledge, concepts and values. Children are encouraged to be independent in their learning.

Throughout Reception, children will have opportunities to develop their social skills and form positive relationships with peers and adults alike. They develop skills in turn-taking and sharing and are given opportunities to practise these skills in a safe and nurturing environment.

Every child is recognised as a unique individual. We celebrate and welcome differences within our school community. Community involvement is an essential part of our curriculum as we celebrate local traditions, learning new skills to enable the children to take an active role in events throughout the year.
